Having had goats, Delana, I 2nd the warnings! You have to use heavy cattle panels or electric fence to keep them in--they'll go through anything else you put up. And if they get loose you won't have any rose bushes or other shrubbery left very long. And yes, they LOVE high places so your vehicles, sheds, possibly even your house roof, if they can find access to it, will be places you'll find them standing around looking down at you. They also need their hooves trimmed about every month if they're on soft ground like pasture. They can get sick and will need vet care too. And a really good diet especially if you're going to milk them, and during cold winter months. The bucks have a terrible odor that can be smelled downwind a long way, unless you get him neutered. I'd suggest visiting someone who has had them a long time and takes very good care of them, like a milking herd, and find out more of the in's and out's of having them around. They're a big investment and can be costly to maintain, just like horses.

He is a cutie. On Easter Sunday we went out to brunch and a petting zoo for our granddaughter. So who patted the goat and fell in love with the goat? Why me!

LOL...I know a home health nurse that came back from a patient visit with dents all over the hood and roof of her car from the patient's roaming goat! I also had an uncle that had goats and remember they were on the roof of the shed all the time and ate everything in sight! They are fun to watch but be careful what ya get yourself into ...LOL :) Cute portrait of this Billy!

Go for it! But another caution, my neighbor had a baby one that was so cute they let it roam around the yard. Besides eating all the flowers, it put a whole bunch of pointy little dents in the hood and roof of their car. They love high places!

Be careful what you ask for Delana.

I love goats. I still have one goat,
Janie died a couple of months ago.
They tell me that billy goats have a
bit of an odor. The nanny goats are
fine, BUT, you need some very strong
fencing. They are a very breachy
animal. They will get out and eat everything.

Knowing all that, GO FOR IT! They are great
fun too. Oh, and you can train them to pack
and pull a small cart.
