Newport, AR (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: This was about 1:45 and they still haven't let School out. They use to let them out after they ate lunch when the weather got bad, now they have to keep them until 2:00 or 2:15 to be able to call it a whole day. Seems silly to me, taking a chance with everyones lives.

Thanks John for the comment! I can drive pretty good in it, as long as everyone stays out of my way, hehe.

Delana, Nobody can drive safely on wet slushy snow.
The ones that think they can are dangerous.
Stay cool, Stay safe.

Oh how terrible for everyone who suffered because of the weather there. It's so sad to hear of people losing their lives because of the snow. Please take care out there, Delana!

Thanks again for the great comments. Oh DB, if it is what I'm thinking you saw, that was bad. There were accidents everywhere, and people just sliding off the roads. We had one fatality accident in the county below us where a Wrecker Driver had just pulled a lady out of the ditch and a vehicle lost control on the other side, crossed the median and hit him and killed him. I think the one you may have seen is where the 911 Operator failed to notify everyone of a lady and her son that lost control and ran into a pond. Help came, but too late and the mother died later at the hospital. Check link below...

Great shot Delana. Hope you all enjoy playing in the snow. Just be cautious on the roads. They are tricky even for us that grew up on Slick and snowbound roads.
Congratulations on the VIP.

congrats on a great weather shot! Be careful and enjoy it while you can. We got snow in North Carolina 1 year. It hadn't snowed there in 30 years. But it was my birthday and I was so homesick for Montana Winter. What a blessing it was!

Great picture and conditions Delana ! I know what you mean about not having the necessary resources but then you normally don't have that much snow...
I had to sign in and make a comment, you just made the news on our Weather Channel showing an accident on one of your highways in Little Rock AR =D Thought it's worth to share !!! Stay safe ! DB

Great shot Delana - congrats on the VIP. Sounds like yall can't drive on snow the same way we can't here in NZ. Every year we get pics on TV of cars sliding all over the place when Dunedin - a very hilly city - gets its first decent snow fall.

The schools here have that too but I have seen them go after lunch when it is real bad. We have snow again and apparently it rained again first so we have ice too. What a weird winter so far-everywhere.

Thanks Sis, Heidrun, and Liz for the comments
and thank you for the VIP. Sis, we were out
playing in it. I know to yall up north that
get snow all the time and a lot of it, this is
nothing. But to us in Arkansas, it is, lol.
People here can't drive in it, and our Highway
Department just don't have all they need to
work with it, or just don't know how. I do know
our Hwy Dept in our county isn't as good as the
adjoining counties.

Going home I decided I'd get on the highway so I'd have some steam built up to get up the overpass, figured if I started right at that stop sign where that van's at...I'd never make it. hahaha
