Cougar, WA (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: From the crater rim of Mt. St. Helens. It was amazing...the steam vents were quite active, and the cracking ice from the glaciers made quite a beautiful racket!

Ahhhhh....I envy you deeply. I got to do the perimeter trail close to Spirit Lake in 2005 while my wife waited at the visitor center, and then also did a helicopter ride - was wonderful and weather was great. Would LOVE to climb this volcano - good for you. Thanks for sharing the pics

Your series is fantastically eductional. A relative gave my son a jar of ash from this explosion, as a birth gift. My son was born 3 months before this happened. The relative showed us pictures of their son shoveling the ash from the driveway, just like snow. I live is north central Iowa and remember the ash clouds passing over for about three days. Thanks for the memories and sharing. M

Ah! I was wondering about the perspective on the Mt. Adams shot. You climbed!!! Thanks for showing me a view I'll never see in person. Nice series.

I just copied this photo to my current WUblog, comment #44, and mentioned your AC, too, so maybe that'll generate some more well-deserved notice of this series.
