Thanks everyone! IT WAS COLD AND MISERABLE to get this shot, BUT WORRTH IT!! Icicles on eyebrows! Glasses totally fogged/iced up. Cell phone and camera batteries going dead after a few minutes... -18 F in the morning, rising to a "hot" -9F by 2PM. Barely making it back before sundown. Brutal 20 MPH wind into our faces coming back to the car... Not recommended for the feeble.

If we didn't drive on ice in winter in the northern tier of states you could not ice fish or see such gorgeous sights as this. Congrats. Nice shot.

3 feet of ice is as safe as it gets. You only need around 15 inches of ice to drive on with a regular 1/2 ton pickup.

GORGEOUS! Where I live, that's enough ice for ice roads and heavy haulers.

What a beautiful image! Congratulations!

walcek

Photography has always been a hobby since I saved up babysitting and lawn-mowing earnings for my first SLR back in the 70s as a young kid. I like the random, beautiful things that most overlook in today's hectic pace.
