Caption: A quick line of storm clouds came over Lawrence around 7pm. I forgot to change my ISO back after shooting eagles earlier in low light thus a noisy shot.

Great Capture Tom! I saw this near Holton, Kansas and took a few shots looks like it got stronger as it moved south towards Lawrence. This was a gust front from the backside of a very strong upper low pressure that was centered over northwest Missouri. This is also the same low pressure that caused the devastating weather in the southeast yesterday.

Congrats on the AC.

I love shots like this one! I think they are way cool! Don't they call them "gust fronts"?
because they usually have a great force of wind behind them and blow over pretty fast? I've always heard it's the backend of those fronts you have to watch out for because the tornados come out of there. Is that correct?
Anybody know? Anyways, I'm glad for your sake it was "more bark than bite"!

Good shot!!! I took shots of the same line of clouds! Looked like all heck was going to break loose, but it didn't. Amazing strata! We were coming out of the Merc, then drove down to Peterson Rd for a better view.
