Brownfield, ME (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: all over!! the cattail spikes in the pond have begun to release their seeds in a pouf of fluffy down, spilling out from the top, enveloping the brown spike in a halo of fluff..the seeds are like 'gossamer' bits of fluff.. What a lovely sight!..years ago, in the Fall, I made an arrangement of several cattail flower heads and set it in my living room...a few days later, a gust of wind blew in through an open window and the seedheads exploded!!..all 117,000 to 268,000 seeds (per stalk)—drifted airily into every single corner of my house!! it took me months to find them all..what a mess! lesson learned..I used natural-looking ARTIFICAL cattails for future Autumn arrangements!!

About suzi46

Living in the mountains of Western Maine on a 15 acre 'gentleman's farm', in a hand hewn log home, has been a wonderful experience these past 6 1/2 years. But it was time to downsize and make a major lifestyle change..so that's what we did!! Going from the Mt Washington Valley region of Maine/NH all the way down to the "Horse Capital of the World"..Marion County in Central Florida! New photo ops in a totally new and intriguing area of this very large and varied state..let the fun begin!
