an ice formation in the frozen brook 'floating' on top of the surface with all these ice crystals growing on top of it..looks like a fairyland crystal palace..the whole formation is probably not more than two inches long and high..

thank you all so much and approvers..and no, I was not laying ON the ground..just crouched very close to it! I do get in some very awkward (precarious?) positions to get some of these macro shots..but the result is usually worth it! so glad to share this year's beautiful bounty of Maine ice with you all just in time for Christmas! :)

Cool picture. I looked at it because the name of my local football (soccer) team in London is Crystal Palace! You're clearly better at photography than they are at football though. ;-) James.

About suzi46
suzi46 Living in the mountains of Western Maine on a 15 acre 'gentleman's farm', in a hand hewn log home, has been a wonderful experience these past 6 1/2 years. The photo ops are virtually unlimited what with the surrounding working farms, dozens of lakes, ponds, and brooks, and thousands of acres of forest. Not to mention our own pond and brooks as well as extensive flower gardens, fruit bushes, vines, and trees. The views of Mt Washington and the Presidentials of NH only add to the drama! Not a bad place to be retired..and I am so glad I can share all of this with the wonderful folks on this great site..it has been a wonderful journey and learning experience thus far..and it's only getting better!
