There's actually no luck to it. I capture over 90% of all the starlight available in a given night making time lapses. I set my camera to take 25 second long exposures, and my intervalometer to trigger every 27 seconds. I lose about 4 seconds out of every minutes.

I will post a blog soon about how I do what I do.
