I count 11 in this shot; the one under the hen's tail and one behind another at center right are hard to see. So, if there were two in the bushes, there may have been 13 in all? Whatever, a nice family!

Thank you! We saw a total of 11. There were two more behind the bush when I snapped this shot.

Great capture of the hen with her little ones. I count nine babies!! We have them here in the woods too, but I haven't been able to catch them yet. This photo is a superb wildlife photo. I love it!! Patty

Thanks! I have seen them fly and was surprised too. I was going out the back door with the dog a few days ago and didn't realize they were out there until they all flew away. I shot this through the window from inside the house because I knew they'd be gone if I went out the door to try to get a picture.

Great shot, Gale! I have seen wild turkeys with young poults around here; we have lots of them in western NC. Several summers ago there was one family that came by our house every day, but never close enough that I could get a decent shot. I was startled to realize the poults can fly from an early age, well before they have reached full size. Thought at first I was looking at chickens up in the trees. Of course the young are still preyed upon by foxes and other carnivores, and the number of poults in that family dwindled from 13 to 7 by the end of summer.
