You sure this wasn't in the Outer Hebrides? Grins. We have a lot of lichen dressed rocks here. Really beautifully intense colour you've captured.

Great Autumnal russets but in lichens by the lakes, makes an interesting alternative to trees. Congrats on the AC

Beautiful photo Kathy. Makes me think of Cheetos, and making me think of a little snack. I know there is some of them in the house.
Congratulations on this nice AC!

Arlene~~I've only had a chance to go up to Thunder Bay once, briefly, but enjoyed seeing the area very much. My only regret is not getting to Old Fort William and the amethyst mines. It's on my bucket list to go back again, though! :-)
Kathy~~yes, it was really windy that day but the water in Lake Superior was actually warmer than the air---when I reached into it to get rocks (we were rock-hounding that day) I was surprised at how warm it still is from the summer heat!

Thank you, Approvers! I appreciate the blue frame!

I remember those cold, windy days, Kathy! Not fit for man or beast to be on the shore. Congrats on the blue frame for this picture!

Lovely shot. When I lived in "Thunder bay" I always thought November was about the coldest of all months because the lake was open and the winds bleew right off it. When it froze, it always seemed better to me.

Thanks so much, Eileen! It was a wonderful afternoon and evening out along the lakeshore, hunting agates, even if we did have to be bundled up in heavy jackets, stocking caps and gloves to keep from freezing! :D

About minnesotamom

minnesotamom

Hi! My name is Kathy and I live in northern Minnesota, USA, where the winter temps have dipped down to -60º below zero F. The summers used to be mild but in recent years have been up in the 90ºs. I love being able to travel the world from my office chair, through all your great photos! I've learned tons about photography and editing photos thanks to all the great people on here and their willingness to share tips. Thank you to all you Wunderfriends who take time to look and leave notes---I deeply appreciate it. :-)/>free hit countersCreate your own visitor map!
