While it was too cloudy in the west to see the close encounter of Venus and Saturn, a break in the clouds to the north revealed the big dipper. The telescope is one of many at the Etscorn Observatory on the campus of New Mexico Tech. This 35 second exposure 'x-ray' image was created by rotating the dome with the slit open and a red light on inside. Thanks to Dan Klinglesmith for his help in creating this shot!

About mcgino
mcgino As a former astronomer I am an avid sky watcher. I have lived in New Mexico for about 10 years and am constantly amazed by the beautiful skies. My favorite subjects to photograph are the skies of course, cats (I rescue strays), and robots (I have a HUGE collection). If you would like to see more photographs of any of the above be sure to visit my website at www.mcgino.com Thanks for looking! Colleen
