Thanks to everyone for the comments! I believe the fires are out now. I've heard conflicting information on how many homes were lost, anywhere from 6 to 9. Thankfully, nobody was hurt!
@Madermade...Hi, neighbor! My mom lives in Decatur, so we get over there pretty often. I recently moved back here (home!) after 10 years away--I have to say one of the nicest things about being back is getting to have a Herd burger whenever I crave one! :)
@Doesiedoats....I was actually there for the Oakland fires, too! My step-dad was in the Army from 1987-1992, and we were stationed at the Presidio of San Francisco at the time. I want to say it was in '91. I remember going out at night and seeing the fires dot the horizon from across the bay--it was awful. The fires on Friday may have been spooky, but nothing I've ever seen compared to the Oakland fires. I hope to never see anything like it again, either!

Excellent news type coverage.

We lived for a time in the Bay Area (California) and were there for the Oakland wild fires in, I think, 1989. We lived in the San Jose area, but could readily see the smoke for several days. Really scary!

Thanks for sharing.

Hi neighbor..I live in the adjoining county, Wise. This is a great shot...we had to go to Graham that afternoon and the fire was devasting. We also had fires in Wise County around Rhome and one just about 3 miles from us in Decatur. We visit Jacksboro often, mostly for the Hurds Hamburgers...Yummmmmm! Glad to know you post photos here.
