I'll be darned. A snowy, snowy. I have no idea why anyone would give this less than a 10. It was at 9.9 but has now jumped back to 10 where a perfect shot belongs. I had hopes of going to Ocean Shores, WA tomorrow to see the 13 snowy's that are camped there, were having an irruption year here in the lower 48, but I don't know if I want to brave rain and 20 mph winds. Probably pretty mild for you though.

Great shot. Reminds me of my only view of a snowy owl in the wild. It was on the highest point of the Seminary building at Andrews University, near Berrien Springs, MI, about 1963. Seems like it was election day in nov and it was dark and almost snowing weather.

Thank you folks. We'll make it thru the weather ordeal. I have been here since '65 and have never seen so many storms come thru one right after the other.

Then if you are following the news you will see that Cordova (where I spent 6 years) and Valdez have really been getting their butts kicked this year.

About johngomes

johngomes

I retired as a police officer/crash rescue firefighter in April of 1990. I have enjoyed photography since the mid 70's and crossed over to the digital world in 1996. Along with being the volunteer photographer for the Alaska Zoo the main focus of my photography is to show Alaska as it passes in front of my lens on a day to day basis. While viewing my albums be sure to look for lnks to Britt Coon's Smug Mug albums. She is becoming a great photographer in her own right and it has been fun watching her develop her skills for the last couple of years that we have worked together. To view more of her work click here and visit her SmugMug album.
