Riley Rd Wildfire (west of Magnolia, TX), as seen from my backyard at sunset in Tomball, TX. The fire is about 15 miles NW of my location, and at the time, the wind was out of the NNW. The day after this pic, we had severe haze from the smoke, and ashfall from the fire. Also note the effect of the drought on the large Live Oak tree (the grass is irrigated)

Also, as a note, the live oak tree (16th oldest in the county) was also struck by lightning last year, and had about 1/3 of it cut off by an arborist in an attempt to save it.

Nice shot. It's sad to hear about the tree and the fires. Hope the fires are out soon and that this old tree survives.

It was crazy sweet. Some of the others from the plant have had difficulties (ripening, falling off before ripe, growing at all, etc.) due to the heat.
