The WU site has a tag "Manipulated Images". I think that says it all.

Thanks, pwmeek, for your kind remarks!

Use of tools? Yes, but if it isn't clear (as in this picture) is should be stated explicitly. Like SLR, I'm glad to see AC choosing nicely done artistic modifications. Good work!

Thanks very much for your support. I had no clue that my images would earn an AC. I was just having fun! My artistic nature taking off with me...

You are right about the over-saturating, I've also seen it for a long time. My point is, if a photo program makes tools available they should be allowed to use.

You can get the same effect in Photoshop using the "embossing" tool, Doerthe. Nice to see that the approvers are allowing "artsy" retouched photos in the AC gallery - then again, some photogs have been oversaturating their sunsets and other images prior to posting for years! Some purists might object - and I can understand their argument - but in my view photography is all about the final result, whether it's composed in the camera or later on a canvas - congrats on your AC!

Thanks, Redla!

I actually never "sharpened" the image; it is a Bas Relief Layer in Photoshop. But Picasa3 is always my starting point with every photo.

I like it! I think it's a great way to portray the shot. I'm inspired to try this myself.
