Thank you much Gardner, Kevin, & Biskitten for your comments. Kevin thank you for the the facebook alert.
This Las Conchas fire near Los Alamos has now grown to 103,000 acres per this morning's news. Today is a lot calmer, so hopefully they can make good progress.

Thank you very much Debbie, for your very wonderful comment. Thank you also for your deep concerns. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for all affected. There is many who have lost their homes throughout the state. The whole town of Los Alamos is evacuated. Not much property loss in Los Alamos at this time. Los Alamos National Labs is very well secured from all reports we hear.

The Las Conchas fire near Los alamos is about 60 miles from us, and has grown to 92,700+ acres per Press conference at noon today June 30th. This one started Sunday Jun 26th acct of what they believe now, a downed power line. (likely wind) In 14 hours it had grown to about 40,000 acres!! (yes 1st fourteen hours)! We get lots of smoke from this one here.
========================

The Pacheco Fire NE of Santa Fe 50-60 miles south of us is 10,000 acres now, and has burned for 10 days or a little more. That is not threatening any homes or property where it is at. It is threatening Water Sheds of some communities. We get no smoke from that one here.

There are several large fires burning in NM at this time, and New ones in the news every day. Most of these fires if they are not threatening homes or structures, they do threaten Water sheds. I just in last hour or so heard Forest Service responding to 2 different fires, not real close but within 40 or 50 miles.

Thanks again and I will use this same writing to update some others that are concerned. Thanks again. 150 PM MDT June 30, 2011.

Oh wow Gil, what an incredibly beautiful sunset for the most incredibly bad reason. Congrats on a fabulous AC. Perfect capture.

I wanted to ask how close this is to your home? Please tell me you are safe. I have been hearing about this horrible fire here in Massachusetts and it truly seems just so scary. I love summer but I hate the fires that come from it. I hope and pray I never see something like this up close and personal like this. Everyone is in my prayers and bless those incredible firefighters. That is one truly "Hell" of a job. Thinking about you, Debbie

Dee: My Exif File shows Manual, f/9, & 1/400 exposure on this one. Others in this series are similar, and some are on Scene/Sunset Mode. All come out very similar.
You can click on [Show Exif] and see all that info there.

Thank you very much, Donna, Suzi, Kevin, & Hanna for all your nice comments.
Update:
Kevin: No, I don't think the wind has changed much. It's just that you as well as us were getting that smoke from the huge Arizona Fires earlier this month. We had not been getting hardly any more smoke from them as One of the big ones is all contained, and the other big one is almost all contained as I understand.
This smoke on these Photos for last 2 days comes from locally. Big fire near Los Alamos started Sunday afternoon, and within 14 hours it had exploded to 40,000 or so acres. Today at noon, they said it was 60,000 acres.
This is burning right up very close to the edge of town of Los Alamos, but they are doing a great job of keeping it out of the city. Los Alamos has been evacuated completely.

The Pacheco fire nearby also, is at 10,000 acres and not threatening anything at all, so most of the resources is on Las Conchas Fire near Los Alamos.
