lemon "tree" in DC 1/20/2014

Uploaded by: georgevandenberghe

Monday January 20, 2014

Riverdale Park, MD

Caption: This lemon grew from a cutting taken 10/2009. It overwinters on the porch or in an unheated garage or occasionally in the basement during arctic outbreaks. Citrus can take a great deal of chilling if gradually exposed and is more cold hardy under those conditions also. However long periods below -3C are not safe.

Well, I believe you are going to have a tall glass of lemonade (my favorite summer drink).
Thanks for sharing.

Probably my wife's lemon pie.

It's beautiful, you must take very good care of it and it shows.

Thanks. But the only special care has been to avoid the combination of dry warmth and dim light found in houses in winter. I keep it as cool as possible but above freezing in my garage or on my porch and only bring it in during bitter spells one of which starts tomorrow morning in the DC area.
