Caption: Love the red and his crest is so alert. It is funny how cardinals can make their body different shapes. I guess it is kind of like us - we can slouch or stand up straigh, hold our shoulders up and hold that stomach in to make our shape look different too. I don't think we have the same ability as birds though.

Another beautiful closeup Shirley! Does this fellow have a slightly orange tint to his feathers, or is it my eyes that are faulty? I seem to remember them a bit deeper red.

I love this,Shirley. Even though I have captured cardinals before, I have yet to get one with a fully raised crest.
