A Splash of Red

Uploaded by: WeatherWise

Danville, VA (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: The cardinal made a splash of red in my oak tree - but was really all over the place peeping loudly its spitting peep sound - perhaps defending his territory as there was an unfamiliar bird sound in yard as well as a red-bellied woodpecker making noises too. Usually the cardinal would have flown away after seeing me especially as I moved about. However, it did not ,even as I moved all the way across back yard - was still up there letting it be known that he was there. Was kind of interesting.

Marvelous shot, Shirley !
Love the story behind it!
