Clarence, IA (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: A co-worker was describing the severe storm that rolled through eastern Iowa Saturday night and mentioned golf ball sized hail that damaged his home. He produced this photo as evidence. I told Nathan I would share with the WU family.

First it was dime, then nickel, then this. Aftermath...new roof, $5000 damage on SUV, pickup total loss, Buick LeSabre pending losses....what a week. Thank you REVMAC for introducing me to this we site.

Thank you for your enthusiastic and humorous comments like cocamon:

Did all stones have the Titleist label on them? :-)

I should have turned them over and checked. But the title of this shot could be "Fore!" - a term used in golf for someone to look out for an incoming golf ball. A creative weather forecaster could have said the same thing.

Oh my gosh, what savage destruction. Though I am glad it wasn't even a month later. Gays Mills WI has apple orchards and that is just too close to Iowa at the moment... But tonight Gays Mills may get frost freeze and that can wipe out an entire apple crop. It hailed like this on the half mature apples few years ago and ALLLL the apples were deformed.. they had none for sale, and for their AppleFest they had to buy apples. How tragic.

Wow! We had a similar thing here 10 years ago. Ruined the watermelon crop, and cars looked like they'd been pounded with a ball-peen hammer! Great shot!
