Caption: is what I heard on the radio as a youngster. My Grandmother walked into the room and I repeated what I had just heard on the radio. Wasn't old enough to understand what it meant, but can still remember the look on her face.

Wonder how many of you remember how it affected us school kids? Here in the middle of Iowa, we school kids had "air raid drills" in addition to fire drills. We were all guided into the basement, sat backs again the wall, head on knees and our hands over our heads. At night the fire siren sounded a long blast and all the lights were out until the siren rang out the all clear.

About Nikongranny

Nikongranny

Old, retired with lots of time on my hands and a Nikon. Lucky for me, there is a park just north of town that provides me with migrating birds and sunsets. Since joining this site, I have a new appreciation for this scenic world we live in. I especially love the comments from so many great people on here.
