We have had tremendous winds all day, with some pretty wicked gusts, so when it seemed to calm down a bit, I went outside to check for broken branches and this is what I see from my side yard! Yikes! It's farther away than it looks, but not far enough for me to feel real comfortable. Waiting for the 6:00 news for details.

Wowser! You're right, they are further than they look, but still
too close for comfort.
Keeping an ear on the News, they sometimes are not very updated.
Keep an eyeball out for it too. We're already having wild fires in NM again. A few homes have burned. None in our close by area.
Stay Safe.

Thanks, Gil! There are several fires burning
here today. We are just so dry and there were
wind gusts into the 60 and 70 MPH range in
some places, plus it was still unseasonably
warm. None of that helps. We could surely
use some rain! The fire in my photo is about
15 miles away and the other close one is about
11 or 12 miles away, but that one is smaller.
I'll be listening and watching. I hope you don't
get any near you and I hope we both get
some precipitation of some sort.

Very windy here also. A few days ago we had 77 MPH wind gust for the official highest gust. The air was brown then, poor visibility.
This afternoon, got very windy but we had gray air. Doesn't look as ugly.

Update: Congratulations on this AC. Just noticed it went Blue! Stay Safe!

I know what you mean about the wind..there was
so much dust in the air today, it was brown,
and I could smell dust in the air inside the
house, too. The wind has died down now and it's
not supposed to be windy tomorrow, thankfully,
so maybe they'll be able to get a handle on the
fires! I sure hope so! Thanks, Gil!
Thank you, Approvers!

This is the bigger of the the two that are
still burning today. Now there has been one
person found dead (didn't say how), homes have
been destroyed and it is up to 3,000 acres.
When I went to bed last night it was several
hundred acres. There are a lot of firefighters
here from all over the place and we will not
have the high winds we had yesterday, so I hope
they can stop it. Right now it is zero
percent contained.

It is pretty far from me, 11 miles or so, and
there are none of those horrible winds todat,
either. They have a LOT of firefighters there
today, along with some air support, so
hopefully they will get control of this fire
today. Thanks, Mary!
