Caption: I took a drive this morning to document some of this amazing weather we're having in Arizona. My path took me over to the Superstition Mountains east of Phoenix and I beheld some sights that I don't expect to see again. (HDR)

My ex husband lived about 2 miles from that mountain in Apache Junction! It was so close, I called his "backyard". It would be very scary coming out of your trailer to see those very ominous looking clouds not even 2 miles away! Excellent capture!

Loooks like it's from the terminator movie! Lots of atmosphere in it. It doesn't look real. Gave it a 10.

Thank you so much guys, I truly appreciate it! I saw this scene and it was just intensely beautiful. I could have stood there all day taking shots, the cloud formations changed SO fast.

Very nice. THe HDR was absolutely the best tool to use to create this image. The "hints" in some of the comments here that HDR or photoshot is somehow cheating is bizzare. Photographers adjust the image they are trying to capture throughout the creative process. Starting with adjusting f-stop, exposure time and WB, to the camera firmware's interpretation of the data, to the final editing via any number of software programs, the creative process uses numerous tools to create the final image. Congrates on this image. Well done.

Hey Mike! This is an awesome use of HDR to highlight the cloud activity and the textures in the gritty road. This photo would not have the same impact if it was in it's raw form without any manipulation. Let's face it, EVERY good photo is manipulated, whether in the camera by the camera's software, or by the artist before the photo is even taken by setting the aperture, ISO, color balance, white balance, etc., or afterwards in Photoshop or Lightroom or PaintshopPro, or whatever. This photo shows what a true artist can do and I applaud you Mike. Nice work!! Celebrate life, Debra

Thanks everyone, and to you coulter, try looking up HDR to understand why it looks the way it does :)

BTW, Photoshop is just a way of touching up a photo like the way people used to with dark rooms and different ways of processing the negatives. I guess because that's "old school", Photoshop is evil :)

Anyways...this was edited with Photoshop to reduce the noise from the HDR software.

Whoa! If ever there was a perfect match between and image and the subject's name, Superstition Mountains, this is it. That may be one of my favorite shots I've ever seen here. Nice Job!

I'm just getting introduced to HDR and I found this website with a bunch of great shots too.
