Scituate, MA (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Last night's storm as it moves out to sea. South of Boston we were extremely fortunate with only strong winds & lightening. The same storm produced tornadoes, significant damage and loss of life in central MA.

Quoting 02066steve:
Thank you for the kind comments.

KeysieLife, I started shooting between 1 - 10 seconds, but found the lightening was over exposing too much, so I switched to shooting at about 1/60th of a second and just rapid fired when I saw flashing. Not the best technique -- I shot about 1200 frames and only got 6 keepers!

I didn't really plan this out. I should have stopped way down, lowered the ISO and stayed with a few seconds exposure at a time.

Thank you for the info and I totally understand. I can shoot hours of footage and only get about 10secs worth of material...it's the little things in life. =)

Great pic, one of my favs so far this year! How are you setting the shutter speed to capture something that happens so fast?

Wow, that is a cool shot. Even reflections of the lightning in the windows.
