Mount Gibbs, Eastside of HIgh Sierra, CA

Caption: This is Mono Pass, an ancient crossing from the Mono Lake vicinity in the Great Basin to Yosemite Valley on the west side of the Pacific Crest. My partner's are visible following my track on our sage to summit tour up Mount Gibbs. We enjoy the elegance of finding the long easy route on hard mountains, when the conditions aren't good (mostly because we're chicken).

Thanks folks. Our eyes are naturally drawn to the peaks and precipices in passing. Well, here's looking back at you. Amazing Hwy. 395 follows the huge eastern scarp of the Sierra for hundreds of miles, like a long buffet line for hungry mountain lovers of all kinds. cheers
