Brownfield, ME (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: it's not the tropics..it's just a 13 degree morning at the pond..looking through crystal clear ice, which formed overnight, and highlighted by the bright morning sun..the still colorful lily pads and stems beneath with methane bubbles frozen and suspended around them.. along with the reflections of the brilliant blue sky, complete this exotic and alien looking scene..just stunning!

once again thanks so much for all your great comments..this entire scene changed within hours and disappeared entirely by the next afternoon..so it was just luck to see and photograph it when I did..all the ice is gone for now..but Winter temps will return by mid-week..so we'll see what develops next! :)

Neat geometric designs over the organic shapes Susan. Also the contrast of the ice against the remains of summer lilies.

About suzi46

suzi46

Living in the mountains of Western Maine on a 15 acre 'gentleman's farm', in a hand hewn log home, has been a wonderful experience these past 6 1/2 years. The photo ops are virtually unlimited what with the surrounding working farms, dozens of lakes, ponds, and brooks, and thousands of acres of forest. Not to mention our own pond and brooks as well as extensive flower gardens, fruit bushes, vines, and trees. The views of Mt Washington and the Presidentials of NH only add to the drama! Not a bad place to be retired..and I am so glad I can share all of this with the wonderful folks on this great site..it has been a wonderful journey and learning experience thus far..and it's only getting better!
