Caption: I was so lucky today..just a regular run to the bank in Conway, NH turned into a unique photo op! The Conway Scenic RR special running of their antique steam train..right past the bank on this dark and rainy day..how neat is that!!

thanks folks so much! I am still SO pleased that I was able to capture this old engine on camera in that position on that kind of day..it is running till the 13th..with alittle more luck I will be able to snap another of it in a different town..

Thanks all so much..good thing they know me at this bank because they may have thought I was robbing it when I took off out the door running for my car to grab my camera when I heard the train whistle!! LOL..

the old steam train runs for only a couple of weeks each Autumn and again for a couple of weeks in the Winter..and thanks to our approvers for the recognition..much appreciated :)

~~Steam locomotive #7470 was built by the Grand Trunk Railway Point St. Charles Shops at Montreal, Quebec, in 1921 with serial #22/1500. It is a coal fired switching locomotive with an 0-6-0 wheel arrangement; it has 51” driving wheels and 22” x 26” cylinders. It develops 36,700 lbs of tractive effort.

Dwight Smith was one of the three original owners of the Railroad shown here with the 7470.
Dwight Smith, shown here, was one of the three original owners of Conway Scenic Railroad.

The weight of the locomotive in working order is 87 tons and the tender weighs 65 tons. The locomotive is equipped with super-heaters. Originally built as Grand Trunk Railway #1795, it soon became Canadian National Railway #7470, Class 0-18-a. It was acquired in 1968 by Dwight Smith, and in 1974 joined the start-up Conway Scenic Railroad as #47. It was renumbered to #7470 in 1989.~~
