I was wondering about the setup, now I see. So you moved the cardboard when you wanted to project image, yes? I still need to try that setup in prep for next time.

Oh, hey, when did this pic get approved? lol
Thanks to whoever made that happen!

WTS - the cardboard is blocking the lens on the left and I cut a hole to fit the lens through on the right. So the projected image comes through the lens on the right only. It is easier to focus just one lens and you only really need one image.
More importantly, the cardboard makes a shadow around the projected image. Otherwise there would be too much sunlight to see the sun! In fact, if I do this again I will use a larger piece of cardboard to have a larger 'dark' area around the projected image, though this worked fine.
Hope that makes sense and that you try it out - I could see sunspots in my projection so you can tell it's working even without a transit or eclipse!

Oh! You did it without duct tape.

;^)

Ahh.. I see, more clearly now! And while a nice contraption is difficult to make without duct tape, I am not sure I would tape up my binocs either :)

WTS has it right, LC - I didn't want sticky stuff on my binoculars! Did have the tape nearby as a last resort, though ;)
I thought the rubber band was a nice touch ... not sure it actually accomplished anything, LOL
