Well, if this were soil at our place, I'd
say it was the iron deposits that made it
red, but being at the beach, I couldn't guess.

Sure does make a pretty shot though.

unique feather....nice weather shot, color is caused by iron impurities within the sand's quartz crystals

I sometimes see this same pattern in the sky with cirrus clouds. Could there be a relationship?
