Quoting RNJoel:

Stunning shot - the magnitude of the glacier is breathe taking. What happens to the kayaks when the glacier calves??? AC Congrats !!!

Cross fingers, pray...lol. It doesn't calve often. This one terminates in a freshwater lake.

Glacier patterns are always fascinating. The kayaks sure bring out the perspective of the whole scene.
Great shot.
Congratulations on the AC.

This shot would be nice without the kayakers, but with them, the timing and composition... Unbelievably fantastic. Nat Geo material. 11!

Quoting Kennebunker:

My, oh my! I SO would love to do this, too! What a marvelous way to time travel through the melting of those ancient waters. Were you out there, too? Kudos, and AC congratulations to you.

Briefly. Didn't get as close to the glacier as those folks, just worked around the bergy bits further away. A glacial dam burst last week pouring huge amounts of water into the lake. I'll wait a few weeks to venture much closer.

This glacier has had Jökulhaup events for the past few summers.
