A side note. I noticed when we were on the lake that there were seams that shouldn't have been there. I warned the kids to stay away. Read in the paper today that there was a rock slide that shattered the lake ice three days ago that we were unaware of. We also noticed (as we were leaving) Forest Service police officers telling people to get off the ice. Goes to show things may not always be as stable as they appear.

Congratulations on AC! Great share!
Thanks!

I enjoy winter days such as this one because the stable lake ice allows you to walk across to the Glacier. Use to have a lone wold roam the lake in winter until a couple of years ago.

Bergy bit? Wow, that sent me to Wikipedia! Fascinating formation.

Bergy bits and growlers. Smaller siblings of the iceberg.

Ooooo! I would love to be able to get this close to a bergie bit! Such a beautiful color, and an amazing time capsule - water that is thousands of years old! Thanks for posting this great series.
