Firth, NE (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Down in the southeastern part of the state we got some of the smaller hail, bigger than a quarter and smaller than a ping pong ball. It melted a bit as I had to wait about ten minutes after it quit to retrieve some. The same storm was reported to have spawned a tornado just to our southeast.

Quoting Nikongranny:

We sat out on the hill and watched the storms in the west ,north, east, and south of us for quite a while until it was about to reach us and thought we better get the van under cover. We got none of this hail, a lot of wind and rain. Once again the worst of it missed us. Was thinking of you. must have done a lot of damage in your area.

We were pretty lucky to get the smaller hail, our neighbors over in Claytonia and Wilber didn't fare so well. Barn roofs damaged, house windows broken, cars ruined.... We didn't get much in the way of wind either but the storm that gave us the hail had a radar indicated tornado warning after it passed over us. I was wondering if you guys were getting the brunt of this.

There's just something about the weather that fascinates me, perhaps its living on the great plains. Our daily lives are influenced by it and living on a land with no mountains, big ravines, waterfalls, trees and such tends to make the sky the star of the show here. Hope you enjoy perusing my images. -Kim
