Exactly. For making time lapses I bought a small device called an intervalometer that sends an infrared signal to the camera to take a picture at whatever interval I specify using a little set screw. I do some of my best work while I'm sleeping ;)

I have had reason to ponder: can I really call myself an artist if I'm asleep while taking the photo? I say yes because I have the vision to set up the camera ahead of time and then the aesthetic to review it afterwards to pick out the worthy shots.

The time lapse movie I made last night is compiled, but I don't know if/when I'll get to posting it. It isn't nearly as spectacular as this one I made last month, during the geminids and I've got other things in my queue for the limited bandwidth:
