Yes, Betsy - great info! I knew they might fall with the frost, but never knew why. The sound of the falling leaves was all around, so quiet on a Saturday morning. It set a lovely mood. I hope you enjoyed the results of your movie making.

And I thank you both, Betsy and Kristina, for your comments!

Quoting luvne32:
Hi, Pokparent: If you walked the dog around 8 AM, and there was no wind, those falling leaves are actually a frost event called "Leaf Fall." It happens on mornings when there has been a hard freeze overnight, which freezes the leaf attachment to the twig. When the sun hits the tree, it melts and many leaves let go at once. Most people never notice it as anything special. I was out this AM trying to get a photo & movie - difficult. But it was a pleasant nature observation, with only the sound of the leaves pattering on all the others they fell on. (Interestingly, I was supposed to be in Pl. Valley this weekend, but it fell through.)

Interesting info, Betsy...and cool shot!
