It's a play on fractions? LOL Or maybe it's the third bank on fifth street or the fifth bank on third?

My son who went to college in Michigan told me these banks were commonplace there. Said the name is the result of a merger involving the Third Bank and the Fifth Bank. Go figure! ^)^

Soooo, does that now make them the 1.6666666666th bank?

Seems pretty self evident to me. Five thirds of a bank minus 22 degrees plus or minus a got2dogs, carry the gilg and add a third of a feather equals a 10! :^)

If fifth third took over first - would that be one third of the fifth-which would be more fun than one fifth of a third. (Of course the youngin's don't remember when booze came in US measurements instead of that metric stuff) And if you added Got2Dogs and Gilg72 to the party of the fifth, which added to cowgazer's interest would surely give us EndlessHorizons to contemplate Clabo's rating of any bank at 1.66666666%
...Which with a feather would tickle any bank to be rated that high!

Wowser! How'd I get dragged in here?!! I'm lost already soon as I entered.
Guess it would take an accountant like Duane, to even try to tackle this situation, why this is even more baffling than my daughter's College Algebra she was wanting me to help with!
I was on a ladder taking down Xmas decorations, and being careful not to fall on my head. Didn't want it to hurt...Now perhaps it would not have hurt as much as my head hurts now. Part of that not from Brain overexertion, but from laughing so hard! Gotta get off my chair B4 I Fall off!

They are not where I live, but I hear their commercials on the radio. It took me a long time to figure out what they were saying. I didn't think a bank would really be called Fifth Third. I had to be misunderstanding.

Thanks for your note, Bludawg! It really throws a person for a loop, doesn't it, when you first see it and try to figure out why on earth they'd have a name like that?! Sure made for a lot of fun comments though, so I'm glad I stuck it on here! :D

This has been amusing people since I was a newbie in banking many long years ago.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifth_Third_Bank

And be sure to read the "history". Why was Third Fifth rejected? It was during the prohibition era.

Cheers.

The First and Two Thirds or, 1st and 2/3 Bank.

Or at least that's the way I was taught fractions...LOL

About minnesotamom
minnesotamom Hi! My name is Kathy and I live in northern Minnesota, USA, where the winter temps have dipped down to -60º below zero F. The summers are mild, usually only in the 70ºs but in recent years have been up in the 90ºs---too hot for me. I love being able to travel the world from my office chair, through all your great photos! Thanks to everyone who takes time to look at my pictures! :D free hit countersCreate your own visitor map!
