Meadowlands, MN (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Coming back from an 18 hour, 1,000 mile day run to Chicago to drive a car back, in northwestern Wisconsin it started raining heavily but after I crossed over the bridge into Duluth, Minn. it turned to heavy slushy snow and came down so heavily the last 45 miles home I could barely see the road most of the time!! I can't believer it's snowing here when only about a week ago it was 80º!!!!

Chuckling...thanks, Ingrid! Yeah, we get reminded every fall that it still exists! Only too vividly!

Mindi, it doesn't look like we're really going to get much right here, though. It's only rained so far. :-)

You do realize what a depressing shot this is to us down here who had gone through a horrible dry, hot summer and are now enjoying a pleasant fall? LOL Please keep it up there so we can have a few more weeks of PLEASANT before we have to entertain that stuff!! Well, we have now been warned!! 0 for the forcast, but 10 for the shot.

I fully agree, James! It was a pretty big shock to come across the bridge from Superior to Duluth and have it blizzarding instead of raining!! TOOO early by far! Glad it all melted by morning!

Thanks so much for writing, Rod! I sure hope you get some rain or snow to quench those terrible fires in WA.

Thanks for your concern, Heidrun---it was kind of scary not being able to see a thing ahead of me! Wasn't that weird how it was the last day of summer?!! That's the kind of weather we get, being The Nation's Icebox! :D

WOW- what a drive it must have been towards the end of your long trip !
And the timing of the snow is sort of significant - right on the eve of the last day of summer you have skipped fall and went straight into winter !
Definitely a Minnesota Special !!!
Cool shot in more than one way !

Thanks for your note, Bill! Down here we're known as "The Nation's Icebox"---what a reputation to have, hey? Sheesh!

Thanks for writing, Gil! If I could I'd sure send you all the rain you need! We don't want it this cold this early either! Had 20 degrees last Tuesday morning! Brrrrr!!

Great shot Kathy. We need the moisture, but don't send the snow & cold down here yet.

About minnesotamom

minnesotamom

Hi! My name is Kathy and I live in northern Minnesota, USA, where the winter temps have dipped down to -60º below zero F. The summers used to be mild but in recent years have been up in the 90ºs. I love being able to travel the world from my office chair, through all your great photos! I've learned tons about photography and editing photos thanks to all the great people on here and their willingness to share tips. Thank you to all you Wunderfriends who take time to look and leave notes---I deeply appreciate it. :-)/>free hit countersCreate your own visitor map!
