Had same reaction as WeatherWise.

Sorry you lost such a beautiful tree, the shade it provided your family, and the homes it provided for local birds.

Yes it was a shame and provided shade and home for birdlife

Sorry to hear that...looks like it missed the house and both yard lamplights - amazing how it kind of fell between.

the wind sheared right between the two buildings , we are guessing and pulled the canopy and snapped it

Yipes! This storm was heading towards us here in Ellsworth, but then seemed to take a hard easterly turn. I don't want any nasty winds, so even though we really need the rain, "no, thank you" to any microbursts!

a bolt of lighting set ablaze the nearby Mt Abrams Ski Lodge..off season now ..the fire toasted the 3rd floor they will be able to rebuild but trees were down all over the place here

I have enjoyed photography as a hobby in my youth and teens, was professionally educated in photography and graphic arts, and was gainfully employed in the photographic trades for 30 years. Recently I like most everyone else has discovered the ease of digital photography, and I find myself having to re-learn many of the exposure tricks that I had become quite confidant with , using film, and now having to apply that science to EV control and noise control, and new terms I never knew in the photographic darkroom. Its a very enjoyable experience.
