Polvadera, NM (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: This is the spectrum of Venus, taken with the Shelyak Star Analyzer 100 diffraction grating on a 200mm lens with the Nikon D300s. This is my first experiment with this filter; it's a pain getting it aligned and I still don't have it quite right, but this is a good start.

About mcgino

As a former astronomer I am an avid sky watcher. I have lived in New Mexico for a dozen years and am constantly amazed by the beautiful skies. My favorite subjects to photograph are the skies of course, cats (I rescue strays), and robots (I have a HUGE collection). If you would like to see more photographs of any of the above be sure to visit my photo galleries at or Thanks for looking! Colleen
