Sturgeon Bay, WI (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Horrible winds last night--predicted to be 65 mph gusts but felt like more--downed two of our trees in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., and well as in neighbors' yards. I suspect the damage in Door County has been extensive.

Sorry for the loss of that tree and so glad the house was not damaged. Plant another asap and you'll have some shade again.

Thanks, jersey. I think we're actually grieving about these trees. We'll replant, but we'll never get back what we had, not in our lifetime.

Oh my, such a shame about that lovely tree, but it's great that no one was hurt!

Thanks, LuvNellie! So far it looks pretty good. I think the tree will be carted away tomorrow morning, so we'll have to figure out a way to patch it until the repairs. This could all have been so much worse!

We will pray for a dry weekend, so that roof repairs can be accomplished!

Thanks, kennebunker. We just discovered the branch broke through the shed roof, so we'll have to repair or replace and hope it doesn't rain for a while. The house is untouched, though. Thank God!

Ouch! What a mess to clean up, and such a sad loss of years of shade and fresh air from this tree. Hope no one was hurt, and that the house is basically intact! Good luck!

I live in Sturgeon Bay, Door County, Wis., with my husband George and a beagle named Lady, whom we rescued through the humane society. I still love labs, and got my handle from the two I once owned, so I've kept the handle that everyone knows me by. I love photography, I love early morning hours, and I love finding beauty in ordinary things.I also write a blog in the style of my former newspaper columns:http://monicaspen.wordpress.com/
