Thank you Gil, Joan, Saz, Jean, Cindy, James and Larry.

And thank you VIP/AC people, what an honor!

My first thought on seeing the open water on the Chena was... we could still go kayaking! :P

Lots of 'cool' scenes around Fairbanks with the open water mists freezing on trees, but we were rushing around 'taking care of business,' anxious to get home.

Amazing photo - great capture! Thanks for posting. Looking out my window in WI and there are still leaves with the sun peeking out - makes our 30 degree temps look good!

I've lived in Alaska since 1969. I love this wild land. The extremes of the far north shape and affect every living thing. Extremes of weather, elevation, daylight hours, isolation, flora and fauna, nothing in Nature is insignificant.I have a Davis Vantage Pro weather station, uploading to Wunderground, (Turks on the Tundra) the National Weather Service, the Citizen Weather Observation Program and MADIS (Meteorological Assimilation Data Ingest System).
