Great shot ! Don't get to see fireweed here in SE Pa. Used to see it in Northern Michigan where I'm originally from.

Thanks Bill and eojyciuj. eojyciuj, the hillside bloom of which you speak is just getting it's stride, right now. Another couple of weeks and every hillside will be this color.

This brings back fond memories. While visiting friends on the Kenai a few years ago there were places where there were whole hillsides of fireweed in bloom creating carpets of pink.

Thank you Elaine, sunshine and shadow sure do 'color' the world, don't they. I was just noticing the totally different color of the fireweed in the background.

I've lived in Alaska since 1969. I love this wild land. The extremes of the far north shape and affect every living thing. Extremes of weather, elevation, daylight hours, isolation, flora and fauna, nothing in Nature is insignificant.I have a Davis Vantage Pro weather station, uploading to Wunderground, (Turks on the Tundra) the National Weather Service, the Citizen Weather Observation Program and MADIS (Meteorological Assimilation Data Ingest System).
