Tok, AK (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Fire cloud rising and creating it's own wind and weather above the Moon Lake Fire this morning. The strong winds created on the ground by this event can exacerbate an already dangerous situation, and result in a firestorm.

Pyrocumulus are a bit unusual this early in the day.

Katy (if I may): This is an incredible shot & as you so clearly stated, these storms aren't a good mix with fire, even a little one. So many of us watched the footage of the Yarnell Hill fire that's about 20 miles from me, do exactly this & claiming our 19 Granite Mtn. Hot Shots. Please stay safe up there & thanks for always keeping such great photographic documentation of what is happening in the Glennallen & Tok regions, Lori.
