Thank you Shirley and Denj!

Who knows, DenJ, if we see this one, or another. People are about as sparse as the moose are. :)

Heheh! That pretty much sums it up Michal, also his legs are longer than a horse, and his body is narrower.

Awesome, Katy! Yes, it is most assuredly smart
to give these big guys the right of way! It also
gives you time to get your camera out!:-) Great
shot! Congratulations on your new Blue!

Thanks friends! And thanks approvers!

Quoting suzi46:
terrific capture Katy!..I've seen similar scenes many times in Maine..BUT without my camera "at the ready"..gorgeous setting! :)
Susan my camera was on the dash, all I did was prop it up a bit and... push the shutter button! *Got lucky!*

Quoting Amanda999:
I remember those. More dangerous than bears.
Amanda I'm more nervous of a cow moose than a bull... she has a powerful instinct to protect her calf, and can be very aggressive. Bulls on the other hand, are generally unpredictable only during the rut in fall. (don't know if they know that though, so I don't ask 'em!) As far as I'm concerned, there is no such thing as a 'safe' bear.

Quoting Cowgazer:
Like the title, don't think anyone will argue with that status. How long does his head-gear take to develop?
Peter over the next month or so, his rack will grow about an inch a day, and gain a pound of bone... by the end of July it could be GIGANTIC!

This is a pretty big guy, I'm thinking his rack will be quite respectable.

Amazing photo Katy! I'm still waiting to see a moose...have not since I've moved up here. The moose population is in trouble in Minnesota and they do not know the cause yet. The latest article I read on it said that half the calves born are not surviving....
Thanks for sharing this glorious site!

On our back roads, we have signs warning
folks to look out for deer crossing the
highway. This would be a real treat to
see.

Congratulations on your AC, Katy!
