Thanks Dave, yes I knew the forecast was a very good "4" so I really wanted to get out and see something grand. I was disappointed in myself for sleeping through a possibly very nice display.

This was all that was left, I'm thinking I missed the best of it. Oh well!

Thank you Steve and Kat.

Yup I sure do know what you mean Kat, and at this hour, so many of the stars were faded out by the morning light already.

Another month, and we won't have 'astronomical twilight' anymore, so we won't see the stars (or aurora) at all! But it's a good trade for the long daylight hours of summer....

You can see SO MANY stars! I'm too close to the
lights from Denver here. I can only see the
real bright ones. At the farm, they are much
better, because there, dark is much darker, if
you know what I mean, but I bet you see more
than that! Beautiful shot, Katy!

I've lived in Alaska since 1969. I love this wild land. The extremes of the far north shape and affect every living thing. Extremes of weather, elevation, daylight hours, isolation, flora and fauna, nothing in Nature is insignificant.I have a Davis Vantage Pro weather station, uploading to Wunderground, (Turks on the Tundra) the National Weather Service, the Citizen Weather Observation Program and MADIS (Meteorological Assimilation Data Ingest System).
