Tok, AK (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Just because temps have been down near -60 F (-50 C) doesn't mean this area is frozen, as I found out when I walked out to take a reflection shot off this patch of ice. Soft swampy ground under 18" of snow, time to backtrack... about -15 at the time of this photo, and I don't think that little pool is solid. (I should have brought a rock to throw)

beautiful series Katy..it IS amazing how water remains unfrozen ANYWHERE in those extreme temps..we have alot of open water here as well..but the snow is a very good insulator..so that might explain some of it..AC congrats! :)

Extremes of weather, elevation, daylight hours, isolation, flora and fauna, nothing in Nature is insignificant.I have a Davis Vantage Pro weather station, uploading to Wunderground, (Turks on the Tundra) the National Weather Service, the Citizen Weather Observation Program and MADIS (Meteorological Assimilation Data Ingest System).
