Perhaps you have seen the opposite kind of mirage Dave, inferior, (ie water on the roadways on a hot day) as opposed to superior, which this is.

Thank you Bernard. Yes I supposed that would be worse. This inversion doesn't do anything dangerous (that I know of) just brings fun and interesting mirages. A child's delight, and mine too!
