Nice shot! Loved this place when I was working in Unalaska, back when the Elbow Room was still active, and there were pretty much no cars (and definitely no Safeway). I only got to go in once, and it was lovely inside; I recall some nice icon paintings of saints. Has the Bishop's House been restored yet? I was fascinated by that place too; the fanciest place in town (then) and in such a state of disrepair at the time.

The little bit of mountain in the background echoes the rooflines nicely, and brings the eye back to the church. Sweet!

The Russians left some very interesting buildings behind after Seward bought Alaska. It was not a bad bargain, as he paid only about two cents an acre.

Joe as you know this is just one of my favorite places. Dotmom I got to know the Priest and his wife in the little Russian Orthodox church in Ninilchik, Ak. I fell in love with that little church. I have fallen in love with this church too thanks to Joe's great photos. God's speed to your next adventure Joe.

This is a little piece of Heaven right there in Dutch Harbor. Lovely inside. JoeA arranged for a special tour when we visited. The Pastor was our tour guide.
