How true, Phatkhat! That was the healthiest maple and such a fantastic sight in the fall with its beautiful colors. Few Maples ever get to be that old and have a perfect shape without any broken limbs.

Thanks to you also for your compassion, Becky1!

Any storm strong enough to take down that HEALTHY tree will seriously damage the house anyhow. A pox on those people! I'm sure the tree was a lot prettier than they are. >:(

I agree! This tree was as beautiful as any tree could be.

Makes me so sad that they "had" to take the tree down, I wish they had just tried cutting it back first.

Yes, piece by piece, it took three days. The maple was a threat to the house on the right, but it makes my heart bleed, because the tree was perfectly healthy. Where people are, nature has to give way...

Thanks, Chris, for your concern and interest.

Gosh, it must have been a job to get that down, with all the buildings around it. Must have had to cut it piece by piece and lower the cut pieces to the ground. Were you there to see the process, Doerthe?
