What a great chance to get so close to nature. I would eat at any cafe that would get me that close to nature! Great shot. 10 from SW Iowa

Thanks for the comments. This sea lion colony is right in the world famous La Jolla Cove, and has become the subject of many debates due to the intense 'aromas' wafting from the waste of the seals and the thousands of sea birds. There is a restaurant above and across the street that has seen business drop, especially after an article in the NY Times and just a few days ago in the LA Times. Even so, they are wild animals and allow us to spend many minutes/hours simply observing them, sometimes up close and personal in the water. Haven't been bitten...yet.

About highground

Apr 17, '12. Been here on WU since '03 and am still amazed at the bounty that the photo world has to offer. I did a year as an approver, that was sometimes very tough. We had a few misfits that wanted things not in the WU 'guidelines' and would not take NO for an answer. Hopefully those times are long gone. Thank you all for helping my WU experience be Wunderful.
