It was visible to me from 5:40-6:00 although it was fairly intense when I first saw it. It might have been visible for as long as 30 minutes.

I've learned a lot on this site from people that have shared info with me when I have uploaded my photos so I'll pass their wisdom on. :)
The sun in this photo looks like it is in the bottom right so the red is nearest the sun but the bend is wrong for it to be a sundog. If the sun were above the arc then the red would need to be nearest the sun for it to be a sundog.

I think this is a circumzenithal arc (blue on the inside to red on the outside) like a rainbow but in a reverse bend (like a smile). Wiki says the arc colors are purer than those of the rainbow due to less color overlap.
In sun dogs the red is on the inside (nearest the sun) and the colors always bend around the sun in short pieces with the same distance from sundog to sun on whichever side of the sun you see it.
The sun in this pic is to the left.

If it is complete then it is called a sun halo.
